  • HAND-PROCESSED BY OUR SUPPLIER IN UJI – This Wakocha is processed by hand at the supplier's own facility, a careful hands-on process carried out with the help of a machine. It is a high-end retail tea the supplier normally sells only in their own store, not a mass-produced wholesale tea.
  • ZERO BITTERNESS, A FLAVOUR UNLIKE ANY OTHER BLACK TEA – Tastes like toasted salted biscuits: rich, gently sweet and completely smooth, with none of the harsh tannic bite of regular black tea. Drink it plain; it needs no milk or sugar.
  • LONG-STRAND WHOLE LEAF, NEVER DUST OR FANNINGS – Long, dark, twisted strands of whole tea leaf, not the broken bits found in supermarket teabags. The same leaves can be steeped up to 3 times.

Wakocha is Japan's rare black tea. This one is made from the leaves of native zairai tea trees over 100 years old, grown at 550 metres in Uji, Kyoto – Japan's most celebrated tea region.

Zairai trees are grown from seed, not cuttings, and over generations they develop a depth of flavour and aroma that modern cultivated varieties can't match.

It is processed by hand at our supplier's own facility in Uji – a careful, hands-on process carried out with the help of a machine, not mass factory production. It is normally a high-end retail tea the supplier sells only in their own store and does not offer wholesale; AICHA secured it specially for customers in the UAE.

The result is a smooth cup with zero bitterness, a toasted salted-biscuit flavour and a gentle natural sweetness. A tea for black tea lovers looking for something entirely new.

Whole loose leaf. Brew hot or cold. Net weight: 30g.

  • RARE SINGLE-ORIGIN UJI TEA FROM 100-YEAR-OLD ZAIRAI TREES – Zairai are Japan's original native tea plants, grown from seed rather than cloned cultivars, and Uji is Japan's most celebrated tea region. Japanese black tea makes up only a tiny share of Japan's tea production.
  • HOT, ICED OR COLD BREWED – Hot: 3g of leaves in 200ml of boiling water for 3 minutes. Cold brew: 5g in 500ml of cold water, refrigerated for 6–8 hours, for a naturally sweet iced tea that is ideal for the UAE summer.
